I really love Castlevania, and especially the Aria and Dawn of Sorrow games. But I am entirely abnormal about Julius Belmont. My website is already full of art and writing about him, but I made this place specifically to cohesively display information about him and share my analyses of everything regarding his character. What is Castlevania?Castlevania is a gothic horror video game series developed by Konami, in which you play as various characters in different periods of time, with the aim to defeat Dracula and/or his minions. While I have not played all Castlevania games(by far), I enjoyed the ones I did tremendously. The intuitive and challenging gameplay, the gothic style, the story and character design, and most of all the amazing music and pixel art have made it one of my favorite game franchises. Who is Julius Belmont?Julius Belmont is a side character, boss and post-game playable character appearing in Castlevania Aria of Sorrow and Dawn of Sorrow. He is known as the Belmont that finally slayed Dracula permanently, something he did during an off-screen event called the 1999 demon castle war. At 56, he is the oldest Belmont, and he is also considered by many to be the most powerfull one.
Why I love him so much:There are so many reasons I really love Julius Belmont as a character. He has an interesting and tragic story, he is so much fun to fight and play as, he has an AMAZING themesong and beautiful animations, a distinct design that sets him apart from other Belmonts(The panther print! The little scarf! The leather crotch jeans!), and I just really relate to him. Over the past few years, I've cosplayed him, played him as a Dungeons and Dragons character, and drawn and written about him many times.
Of all the characters I've liked in my life, this old man vampire hunter is by far the closest to my heart.
